Agenda: Iraq invasion of Kuwait (JCC)
Letter from the Chairperson

Dear Delegates,
It is my great honor to welcome you to this iteration of the Shishukunj MUN. I am Rudraraj Singh and would be serving as the chairperson of the Council of Representatives of Iraq.
I am a twelfth grader who’s inquisitive about International Business and Computer Science. Since beginning Model UN in 6th Grade, I’ve familiarized myself with the ins and outs of diplomacy and debate, and have become fascinated with the nuances of global affairs.

When not occupied with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics you’ll find me vibing to Chase Atlantic, The Weeknd, Drake, or Jahseh Onfroy with my headphones and a cup of coffee or watching Family Guy. You could easily relate my humor to Stewie Griffin.
The committee will be working as a Joint Crisis Committee along with the Cabinet of Kuwait. The agenda that we plan to discuss in the committee this year will be the Iraqi Invasion of Kuwait, 1990. Wherein Iraqi forces have begun the annexation of the Northeastern region of Kuwait. Now as the Council the delegates must work on how to make the course of this Invasion as their actions will affect the other committee tremendously.
Excited to meet you!

All the best
Regards
Rudraraj Singh
Chairperson

Organ Description
The Council of Representatives of Iraq is a continuous crisis committee established in the background of the Iraq invasion of Kuwait in 1990. The freeze date of the committee is August 2, 1990, the day the Iraqi cabinet commenced its invasion of Kuwait. The role of the Council will be to take substantive measures and form strategies to infiltrate Kuwaiti defenses, capture principal oil outposts and tackle the crisis at hand.
Note- The committee will function as a Joint Crisis Committee along with the Cabinet of Kuwait. This implies that the decision taken by one committee will have a tremendous impact on the other.
Agenda: Iraq invasion of Kuwait
The discussions in this continuous crisis committee will be based on the various details of the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990. Due to the Iran-Iraq war, the economically wounded Iraq accused Kuwait of violating the OPEC regulations by over-producing crude oil for export. This depressed oil prices which drastically affected Iraq’s oil revenue. Suffering from this setback, Iraq invaded Kuwait. Set in this backdrop, the Iraqi Council now has to decide the course of this invasion and tackle the various problems that it will face in the near future.
