Letter from the Under-Secretary-General
Namaste,
I, Hrishubh Zatakia, am exhilarated to serve as the Under-Secretary-General of the Economic and Social Council for the Shishukunj MUN 2022.
I’m currently a grade 12 PCM student and I aspire to pursue a degree in Computer Science. A perfect definition of an ambivert, I’m a mercurial yet entertaining person (at least my friends say that). My interests include traveling, music production, and acting. I attended my first MUN in 2016 and since then, I’ve participated in numerous conferences as a delegate, a bureau member, and now as a member of the Secretariat. They have helped me build my self-confidence and polished my communication skills, I hope they do the same for you!
The Economic and Social Council is one of the 6 principal organs of the United Nations. It is a central forum to conduct studies, prepare conventions and make recommendations to General Assembly, member states as well as Specialized Agencies. It cannot pass any political or military orders concerned with the security of the member nations.
In this edition of the Shishukunj MUN, we have four thrilling committees under ECOSOC with engaging agendas for a fruitful conference. From committees like WHO, UN-COPUOS, UNODC, and UNCSW to discussing vital topics ranging from regulating genome editing and sequencing, space technology for sustainable and socio-economic development, countering illicit drugs trade production and trafficking, and addressing the socio-economic problems for the empowerment of women, we are sure that you’ll have a stunning experience during the course of the conference.
