Dear Delegates,

It gives me immense pride and joy to welcome you all to the Shishukunj MUN 2022. I, Likhit Sethi, will act as the Chairperson of the World Forum for Protection of Minorities, WFPM and as the Under-Secretary-General: General Assembly Affairs.

I am a nature lover who finds peace in coffee and dark chocolate. I am in 12th grade studying commerce with applied mathematics and political science. My journey as a MUNer began from seventh grade and since then MUN has helped me develop as an individual. My advice for all of you would be to be researched about your country and its association with the agenda and present it confidently.

This year’s agenda for The World Forum for Protection of Minorities (WFPM) is Ensuring

Inclusivity of Minorities Worldwide. We will be debating upon the specifics of the issue, the problems faced by minorities and innovative solutions to help these groups. I hope this MUN would be a valuable and fun session for all of you.

Please feel free to contact me for any queries or assistance you might need.

Looking forward to seeing you at the conference.

Regards

Likhit Sethi

Organ Description

The World Forum for Protection of Minorities (WFPM) is an international forum established to safeguard minorities from discrimination and their alienation from mainstream society. It aims at alleviation of minorities in various aspects of life ranging from political to economic. The WFPM functions by arriving at solutions to the discussed problems and suggesting them to the concerned nations.

Agenda: Ensuring Inclusivity of Minorities Worldwide

Minorities are culturally, ethnically, or racially distinct groups that coexist with but are subordinate to a more dominant group. As the statistics show, minority groups have a higher chance of living in poverty compared to other groups within a nation, alongside experiencing higher conflict and distress, with comparatively lesser access to public resources and political structures. Being lesser in number, their voices are often stifled by the privileged group. But they are also human beings who need access to basic amenities and should be provided with equal opportunities as other fellow citizens. The World Forum for Protection of Minorities aims to discuss and arrive at solutions that can be implemented worldwide to safeguard minorities and help them reach at par with the majority.
